gay people real?
Jul. 19th, 2024 08:12 amlook at me, here i am once again (feeling lost but now and then... listen the SONG is good even if the production was evil) trying to be clever about my titles so i can talk about two things, one of which being the book that brought me here to the posting window and one of which being only tangentially related.
the book girls who like girls who like boys, I THOUGHT, was going to be an interesting look into the meaningful relationships between gay guys and fag hags. and, i mean, some of the book was that! but the short pieces were curated by two YA authors who had spent time in magazine writing, so, uh... a lot of the book was really shallow and mean. girls pining over gay guys and trying to see if they could make them straight. girls who hate the company of other women because "they're all backstabbers... but my gays would NEVER do that!". look, again, a good number of the stories were meaningful, or actually explored the weird and specific social dynamic of having a gay best friend. (most of these ones were written by the gay men.) but those were overshadowed by the sheer volume of petty, self-absorbed, frankly kind of sexist stories.
in other "gay people" news, i've reached the episode in 911 where buck and tommy kiss. so, entering contentious ship war territory. i've already complained about weirdo bucktommy fans here right? look, the episode... yes, tommy was flirting with buck. no, buck was not subconsciously responding to it, he's a golden retriever with rejection sensitivity dysphoria and he thought he wasn't good enough to be tommy or eddie's friend and that's why he was freaking out. that kiss did not answer all of buck's problems he just looked stunned like he was just figuring out that this was even an option for him (I THINK THIS IS CANON.) everybody needs to go touch some grass. (some of the buck/eddie shippers too. i read fanfic and go "he would not fucking say that" all the time.)
