item one: lol remember when the point of my posts was to talk about the books i was reading? joke's on me i haven't read anything new lately just a goddamn lot of fanfiction and maybe 20 pages of eve kosofsky sedgwick's absolutely impenetrable work "epistemology of the closet". anyway i read the first two heartstopper compilations they were okay i don't think i'm going to read the other ones. or watch the show, which was my original plan. maybe i'm just too old for this shit now?

item two: i have a couple people following me (subscribed to me? granting me access?) now, maybe because of tumblr's whole skeleton crew scare? which is making me realize that actually i have no idea about dreamwidth culture. what the fuck do any of these words mean? is mutual culture a thing here? does just subscribing make us mutuals? how do people make friends on this website? dear the three people who follow me, please help?

so, i'm 23. i'm freshly out of college. when i was starting college i bought a bunch of extension cords for myself and my first roommate to use, and now that i live in an apartment with a reasonable amount of outlets, i don't use them anymore. i've been storing them all in a white plastic bin in our laundry room (we have in-unit laundry which is one of 2 nice things about this apartment) along with some other electronics miscellanea like earbud covers, usb wall plug, etc.

i went downstairs to do laundry tonight and when i had finished starting the load, i happened to look over at the shelf where we keep both the detergent and also this basket of cords. and i notice that there. is. WATER. sloshing around in there.

naturally im like oh shit and lift it up to bring it upstairs to hopefully dry off the electronics???? and then i realize???? it smells like piss????????? someone or something has PEED in my basket of cords???????????????/

the only possible explanation i can think of for this is that, like, ok a roommate saw a mouse in her room recently (the exterminator's come and gone it's been dealt with), maybe it is mouse pee? but it was really too much liquid for a mouse to be reasonably capable of producing????? my one roommate gets high on substances ranging from weed to magic mushrooms to god knows what else semi-regularly, did she do this while high? do we have a secret cat?????????????????????????????//

anyway so i washed everything with dish soap (bar a couple of items that looked corroded that i just tossed) and its currently drying sadly and pathetically on a towel in my bedroom. suffice it to say this is not a problem i anticipated having as a renter
